PRETORIA-- The South African government will prioritise the implementation of the South African Development Community (SADC) Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap which was adopted by heads of State and government of the 16-national sub-regional bloc who held their 37th summit here over the weekend, says Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba.
The strategy is aimed at accelerating economic growth and development in the sub-region.
President Jacob Zuma, who hosted the two-day summit, assumed the chair of the SADC during the summit, taking over from Swaziland.
Gigaba said here Monday that the Treasury was ready to make the industrialisation strategy a success.
I was talking to (Trade and Industry) Minister Rob Davies and he indicated that around October he'll be going to the SADC headquarters in Botswana where he will engage with the secretariat on the practical steps to be taken to ensure that this industrialisation strategy that's been adopted here can be properly implemented," said Gigaba.
"On my part, I will also be focusing on harnessing the resources and capabilities of the private sector in order to develop the skills and capacities we need to attract investments in infrastructure.
