Dar es Salaam - Simba SC head coach Jackson Mayanja has praised his defensive department for not leaking goals as the Vodacom Premier League heads into its home stretch.
The Msimbazi Reds, who top the log with 51 points, have improved their clean sheet record after annihilating Ndanda 3-0 at the National Stadium on Thursday.
Mayanja believes that his squad's rock-solid defence has significantly contributed to their push for the league title, which is wide open for three teams.
Simba have conceded three goals only since the Ugandan replaced Briton Dylan Kerr in January.
"The record of the squad speaks for itself. We have conceded three goals only since mid-January, so I am proud of my defenders; they have helped considerably in elevating the team to the current position," the former Kagera Sugar and Coastal Union coach said.
"I am so satisfied with their performance and hopefully, they will keep their forms going until the end of the season," said Mayanja.
"It is our belief that we can win the Premier League title this season, but any of the top three can do so. We just have to win the remaining games." Yanga sit second with 50 points having played 21 matches, one less than Simba while third-placed Azam have 47 points from 20 outings.
