Ambassador Jean-Michel Dumond, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan met with H.E. Professor Ibrahim Ghandour, Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs at his office on February 7, 2017. The European diplomat said at the end of the meeting to the press:

I have met with H.E. Minister Ghandour as part of our regular consultations to find ways to enhance relations between Sudan and the European Union.

I have informed the Minister that a delegation of 16 European diplomats will begin tomorrow a two day visit to North and West Darfur to deepen relations and cooperation with the local authorities and the UN missions, and visit EU-supported programmes.

The Delegation will include Ambassadors and diplomats from the European Union member states and Norway. In our agenda, we will meet with the State Governors to discuss the challenges to development and areas for future support. We will visit EU-funded projects which are implemented by the WFP, UNICEF and UNEP and we will exchange views with the international organisations how to reach out to and assist more Sudanese.

I have reiterated to the Minister the pledge of the European Union to support the genuine efforts for peace and stability in Sudan.
